Commission a Portrait

There is alot to take into consideration when commissioning a portrait, so hopefully the info below will give you an idea about what is needed and what is involved. If you have any further questions, please get in touch.

I draw your portraits from your photographs, so I will need a selection of good, clear photos of your pet. I will usually pick the best one for the main pose, but will use any other photos as reference, to give me a better idea of your pets features.

You can take photos of your pet specifically for the portrait, so if you are considering this, it is a good idea to take them outside in natural light. Also, try to get down on the same level as them. This way, the animal will be looking directly into the camera, resulting in a good photo. It’s also good to see close up photos of the eyes or particular features, which might get lost in a photo taken form a distance.

If you’re not sure your photos are suitable, please send them to me anyway and I’ll be able to tell you if I can use them or not.

If you are local to me, within a 20 mile radius, then I can come to you and take some photos for you.

Also, if unfortunately your pet is no longer with you, then send a selection of photos and I shall do my best to try and come up with something for you.

When you have chosen your photos, you can email them to me in a high resolution or alternatively, you can post them on a USB stick or CD. You may need to reduce the size of the files if you are sending them via email. If you decide on sending a USB or CD, then please make copies and send them via signed for or recorded delivery. All photos, USBs and CDs will be returned to you the same way.

I require a 50% deposit to begin the portrait and to secure a place in my schedule.

Each portrait takes many hours to complete and can take up to 6 weeks, depending on  the length of my waiting list. But if there is a specific date you require the portrait for (birthday, anniversary etc…), then please let me know and I’ll do my best to try and accommodate you.

Alternatively I offer gift vouchers, which are ideal for special occasions. Please contact me if you would like to order a voucher.

When I have completed your portrait, I will email through a photo for your approval. Once approved, you will be able to pay the balance via bank transfer or PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account to pay through PayPal, you just use it as a guest) and I will securely package and post your portrait as soon as I’ve received your payment.

I hope this information has been helpful and i look forward to creating a special portrait for you.
