Another Fab Show… Oswestry

Hello everyone!

How are you all doing? I can’t believe where the weeks are flying by to. In my last post, Emily was just at the beginning of her summer holidays and now she only has a few weeks left and there’s still lots we would like to pack in.

I had a fab time in Oswestry this year. I attended the show for the first time last year and it wasn’t the best for me…but i came back this year with new stock in different mediums and I only ended up winning first prize for the best stand in the craft marquee!!! Eeek!

I was so so pleased, another small piece of recognition, that I’m doing something right and that I may finally be on the right path for where I want to be.

So thank you so much to everyone who bought from me and who continue to buy and follow me and my journey, it means so much to me and my family.

Catch up with you all soon!

Royal Welsh show…set up day and day 1

Hi guys!

An eventful few weeks it has been to say the least. What with the run up to the end of the school year, sorting teacher thank you gifts etc, sadly saying goodbye to a close friend and prepping for another big show, it’s been challenging keeping up to speed with what day it is, lol!

Well, The Royal Welsh show is finally here and what a great first day its been. It was a lovely drive down, a long drive mind you, but the views were gorgeous.

I think we’re set for a few good days weather wise, so I hope it will bring all our wonderful customers out and about…considering the traffic I came upon when I arrived yesterday, then I think it has, lol!

I’m really looking forward to meeting another wave of new people and traders over the next few days. Hope you all have a fabulous week, whatever it is you’re up to.

Gearing up for the Summer Holidays

Well, it’s almost that time of year again…the summer holidays!

Yes, the kids will be breaking up from school in a matter of days…aarrgghh!

I’ve been having a bit of a panic lately, as to what we’re going to do with Emily over the summer.

I personally, have a few more fairs and shows booked in that I still need to work towards, so will need time to make and create and I can already feel the guilt setting in, as Emily is stuck in the house, waiting for me to be free to just play for a while.

She’ll be starting full time school in September and so has targets to work towards…thankfully, as she’s only four, it’s not algebra or anything too testing.

So, I took the bull by the horns and bought her some new learning games from the early learning centre the other day. I’m looking forward to helping her with her numbers, recognising letters and combinations of letters, which make up our words, learning to spell her name and learning to do up her buttons and zips, which she’s managing to do ok at the moment.

We’ve decided to start a scrap book of summer fun and activities, whether that be literacy and numeracy, days out at the zoo or picnicking in the park with friends, it’s all learning and we’re excited to start documenting it.

Let the summer fun and crafting commence!

Different type of painting today

Good afternoon you lovely lot!

I just thought I’d share with you all, the other type of painting I do. Yes, I am a painter and decorator by trade. Alot of my adult life has been, not knowing what I really wanted to do with my life and in the midst of my other half wanting to learn a trade, not long after we met (and had started doing at the time…plumbing), I thought I might like to too.

The only one I thought would fit in with me as a person and my background, was painting and decorating. So back in 2006 I enrolled back in college to do a course and did two years of it, which enabled me to go out into the world, confidently knowing my trade. I continued with it, on and off until around 2013 and decided to take a break from it.

I was still working nearly full time (32 hours a week…evenings) at the time and then was decorating in the day and I was burning the candle at both ends. After suffering a miscarriage in 2013, I decided that something had to give, if we wanted to start a family and that’s what I did. We had Emily in 2014, best thing we’ve ever done.

As you can see, I still dabble at home…this is something I wanted to help Matt with today. He has a business running mobile bars and he’s built this new one, it just needed varnishing, so I stepped in to help.

I absolutely love what I’m doing now with my artwork and would never want to give that up, as I think I’ve finally found what I want to do, but having trained and learned the skills needed, I know this is something I can take back up again in the future if I want to.

Wishing all a wonderful day

The past few months

Well, what can I say…it’s definitely been a busy year so far. To kick the new year off, we had a wonderful relaxing holiday to the Caribbean, which was Devine, just what we needed before we set off for a busy year ahead.

What with trade shows, agricultural shows and craft fairs booked in, it was a daunting prospect, thinking about what I needed to make and make quickly. But here we are, almost in June (I can’t quite believe it) and I’m embracing each show as it comes my way.

I exhibited my debut collection of greetings cards at my first ever trade show in February…Spring Fair at the NEC…wow! What an experience that was. I thought I was prepared enough, but in hindsight, no…I still have so much to do, tweak, learn and put into practice for next time.

I’ve started to sell to a couple of independent shops, fairly local to me in North Wales, but have decided to venture out a bit further to Somerset, to exhibit in The Royal Bath and West show…only ended up winning the Gold medal for best trade stand in the gift and lifestyle marquee!!! #chuffedtobits

It’s been great to meet so many lovely new people whilst being away, but I must admit, it’ll be so nice to get back home to my two favourite people. I’m missing them so much, but you’ve just got to do what you’ve got to do. Well I shall sign off for now and catch up with you guys really soon…best get making, ready for the next show…toodle pip!
